Assessment of Polar Ionospheric Observations by VIPIR/Dynasonde at Jang Bogo Station, Antarctica: Part 1—Ionospheric Densities

چکیده
Vertical incidence pulsed ionospheric radar (VIPIR) has been operated to observe the polar ionosphere with Dynasonde analysis software at Jang Bogo Station (JBS), Antarctica, since 2017. The JBS-VIPIR-Dynasonde (JVD) provides parameters such as height profile of electron density NmF2 and hmF2, ion drift, tilt in bottomside ionosphere. JBS (74.6°S, 164.2°E) is located cap, cusp, or auroral region depending on geomagnetic activity local time. In present study, an initial assessment JVD densities attempted by comparison GPS TEC measurements which are simultaneously obtained from receiver during solar minimum period 2017 2019. It found that (bTEC) show a generally good correlation for geomagnetically quiet conditions. However, bTEC seems be less correlated slightly larger spreads especially daytime summer, associated characteristics energetic particle precipitations large irregularities. also some limitations handle these needs improved produce more accurate profiles disturbed

Radar observations of ionospheric irregularities at Syowa Station, Antarctica: a brief overview
We briefly overview the radar observations that have been made for 30 years at Syowa Station, Antarctica for studying small-scale electron-density irregularities in the southern high-latitude Eand F-region ionosphere. Some observational results (i.e., long-term variations of radio aurora, Doppler spectra with narrow spectral widths and low Doppler velocities, and simultaneous observations of ra...

متن کاملLittle Ice Age (neoglacial) Paleoenvironmental Conditions at Siple Station, Antarctica
The 550-year records of 6180 and dust concentrations from Siple Station, Antarctica suggest warmer and less dusty atmospheric conditions from 1600 to 1830 A.D. which encompasses much of the northern hemisphere Little Ice Age (LIA).· Dust and 6180 data from South Pole Station indicate that the opposite conditions (e.g. cooler and more dusty) were prevalent there during the LIA. Meteorological da...
متن کاملIonospheric E–F valley observed by a sounding rocket at the low-latitude station Hainan
According to the sounding rocket experiment conducted at Hainan ionospheric observatory (19.5 N, 109.1 E), a valley between the E layer and F layer in the ionospheric electron density profile is observed and presented. The sounding rocket was launched in the morning (06:15 LT) on 7 May 2011, and the observed electron density profile outside the valley agrees with the simultaneous observation by...
متن کاملFar ultraviolet remote sensing of ionospheric emissions by Polar BEAR
AbstructA few thousands of far ultraviolet images of the ionosphere were obtained since December 1986 by the Atmospheric/Ionospheric Remote Sensor (AIRS) aboard the Polar BEAR satellite. Fast algorithms for applying automated satelliteattitude, geometric, and photometric corrections to these images were developed, and the first results are discussed. A software package that is based on these al...
